Warm greetings! As 2011 winds to a close, we wanted to thank our supporters and community partners for an exciting first year as Green Noise LLC. We have learned a lot about how to operate and sustain a small business, and we hope to learn many new things. This video, produced by Adam Cole and Maggie Starbard (NPR) shows in colorful detail how population growth rates have exceeded death rates over time. This video is an excellent example of visual communications.

For a glimpse at how quickly our population is growing by billions, take a look at this video created by The Economist Online. Editorial note: The narrator of this video ends with a statement about how “stable” the world will be, and it is unclear if he means stable in terms of birth rate or something else. Having more people on the planet and fewer resources does not sound like a recipe for stability unless there is also a shift toward sane and sustainable use of resources.

Obama Administration considers homeowner refinancing

Greetings,

Our family has recently refinanced our home, and in doing so we were able to take advantage of significantly reduced mortgage rates. I believe that if more banks were willing to follow the Obama administration’s lead on this, they would help families struggling to pay monthly bills…and in doing so, they would help communities who are full of neighborhoods who are full of families who are struggling to pay their monthly bills. Overall, by reducing monthly costs month to month, in the long term, makes long-term economic sense to preserve a family’s monthly income. Long term grassroots economics makes national-scope economic sense. Communities should be working with banks and applying pressure on them to operate beyond their bottom lines and help families rather than moving mindlessly with the momentum of a sea of foreclosures. Foreclosed neighborhoods mean bank closings.

I strongly urge any homeowner to contact their representatives on both sides of the aisle and let them know this is a healthy and completely possible path toward grassroots level economic reconstruction. – Neil

Economics, Ecology, George Carlin (video)

In the spirit of the Occupy Wall Street movement that is developing, I found this little gem that is a little mental gift from George Carlin. This video was shared from the site featuring the book “Sacred Economics” by Charles Eisenstein. There are some interesting ideas on money and banking and ecology that Charles Eisenstein is bringing to light. Please check it out and share widely. The mainstream media – including our good objective friends at National Public Radio – are not committing serious intellectual energy toward finding out what the movement is about. In fairness, the movement should find speakers who possess enough clarity of thought to express its bright criticism of an oppressive economic system in ways that a sleepy and careless public can begin to understand.
